Stephanie Mehta is currently the global editor at FORTUNE. Prior to this position, she covered the telecommunications and media industries.

She joined FORTUNE from The Wall Street Journal, where she was an assistant news editor, reporting and editing technology stories. She wrote extensively about telecommunications at the Journal, focusing on wireless and local phone companies.

Mehta joined the Journal in 1994 as a staff reporter for the paper's Enterprise group and was promoted to deputy bureau chief of that group in 1996. Prior to joining the Journal, she worked as a business reporter for the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, VA.

She received a master's degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in English at Northwestern University.
