Before joining Newsday, she worked at Crain's New York Business and American Banker. She also worked as a metro reporter at The Home News Tribune and at the Asbury Park Press in New Jersey.

A Bronx native, she also teaches at Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. Tami does triathlons and marathons with her husband in her spare time.
